You’d think that the quickest Bimmers in the stable are all M cars, but that’s not completely true. BMW just announced its i7 M70 xDrive electric luxury flagship sedan, and it’s a luxurious land rocket. It makes 650 horses that drive both axles, and there’s 748 lb-ft of twist when you dial it into Sport mode. Use the car’s launch control feature or the M Sport Boost function, and that number climbs to 811 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 mph arrives in a mere 3.5 seconds. The car weighs 7,165 pounds, so that’s three and-a-quarter tons to move very, very quickly. Underneath, there’s a 105.7-kWh battery that provides an EPA-estimated range of 295 miles. It also has a sport-tuned chassis, standard adaptive and self-leveling suspension, active roll stabilization, and rear-wheel steering. More details about this beast will surface before the 2023 launch later this year.
