There’s a rumor circling around that Toyota and Suzuki may work together to bring a small sports car to market, and it could be the long-awaited successor to the Toyota MR2 that hasn’t been around since 2007.
The sports car will reportedly be powered by a small but potent Suzuki-made 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with 120 horsepower. The weight will be close to 2,200 pounds or lighter than a current Mazda Miata. Based on a current Toyota Yaris, the small sports car will measure around 165 inches in length with a 100-inch wheelbase. It will slot in below the GR86 and the Supra with a price of between $16k and $20k, but we’re not even sure it’ll come to the states. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that it will and that it will also look close to the Toyota Sports EV concept that Toyota revealed back in 2021.
