Gorgona Cars Mazda MX-5 Miata Concept NM

There’s no question that the first-gen Mazda MX-5 Miata is a classic, and the model, as a whole, is the most successful roadster of all time. Italian shop Gorgona Cars took the NA-generation and modified it for track use. The goal was to improve the original car and restomod it to perfection. The Concept NM was three years in the making and includes numerous modifications including removal of the the windshield, as well as the lower half of the doors. It was fitted with a hard cover, making it a single-seater barchetta (“little boat” in Italian), hence the NM “naked monoposto” (single seater) nomenclature. Then it was given a tiny windscreen, a rear cowl, Alcantara upholstery, and a new racing seat with a four-point harness. The racing Momo steering wheel and instrument cluster are also track-focused pieces. The stick 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine from the NA Miata remains the same, but you can get a power kit that pushes the output from 181 to 225 horses. The six-speed manual transmission is still present, and it uses a short throw shifter and a limited-slip diff. Other suspension tweaks include adjustable coilovers and more robust brakes. Expect the build to cost a hefty $70 grand plus the cost of the donor car.
