A rare, signed first edition copy of the original “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” is heading to a private sale at Christie’s in London as part of The Art of Literature: Loan and Selling Exhibition. In addition to author J.K. Rowing’s signature, the book features a few errors that only existed in the first publication. This particular copy is one of 500 hardback copies of the book published in the first run in 1997. Of those 500, 300 were sent to libraries. Christie’s is accepting offers starting at $250,000 though the final price might be much higher than that. The “Art of Literature” event at Christie’s is open to the public from June 7th to the 15th.
