Don’t look at Gucci’s new Planetarium watch for high-end mechanical movement horology. It’s more of a playful timepiece with its fun and colorful planetarium print, bright green hands, and the recycled nylon strap with the Gucci logo festooned all over. There’s a reliable quartz movement inside the modestly-sized 38mm case, and it’s capped off with sapphire glass for durability and scratch resistance. Would Guccio Gucci roll over in his grave at the sight of this? Perhaps, but it certainly speaks to a new generation of those who might not care about watches all that much in the first place.
