BMW 8 x Jeff Koons Art Car

BMW 8 x Jeff Koons Art Car

The BMW Art Car has been a thing since way back in 1975 when French racing driver Hervé Poulain had American artist Alexander Calder paint a 1975 BMW 3.0 CSL. Since then, renowned artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Jeff Koons have created their own interpretations of the BMW Art Car. For 2022, BMW brought back Jeff Koons to create the BMW 8 x Jeff Koons. It uses the 2023 BMW M850i Gran Coupe and adds a ton of color and some comic book-style speed ballons for effect. The seat upholstery is a bold red and blue colorway seemingly inspired by Spiderman, himself. While the exterior (and interior) are truly unique (and should make finding your Bimmer in a crowded lot a cinch), the guts are the same. Power comes from a potent 523-horsepower twin-turbo V8 engine that drives all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic. Only 99 of them will be made at a price of $350,995. If that price seems nuts for a sub-$100k base car, keep in mind both the collectibility factor and the 285 hours of paint application time. Each car gets a special certificate of authenticity and a badge with the artist’s signature. Pow!
