Detroit-based Shinola is expanding its dive watch line with a beast known as the Forged Carbon Monster. Instead of the usual stainless steel case, Shinola uses forged carbon that’s light, super-tough, and beautiful. The 45mm case’s forged carbon is a mix of black, grey, and orange that’s inspired by Lake Superior’s Black Beach with its dark sand and orange-hued cliffs. The rest of the watch is also dive-ready with ISO-6425 compliance, 30 ATM of depth, brightly lumed hands/markers, and a carbon screw-down crown. The movement is a Swiss-sourced SW200-1 automatic movement with 38 hours of power reserve. Flip it over, and the caseback gives the dial a run for its money thanks to orange Great Lakes etching and a litany of watch specifications. The Forged Carbon Monster comes with both a black rubber dive strap and an orange nylon strap.
