Wayne Newton’s Casa De Shenandoah is a sprawling estate that spans more than fifty acres and includes everything from a collection of Mr. Las Vegas costumes and trinkets, Arabian horses, a jet and a small yet incredibly well-curated collection of the phenom’s cars. One of those cars, the 1981 Mercedes-Benz 380SL Custom Roadster you see here, could be yours later this month. Even after just one glance, you already know this is unlike any other 80s Benz convertible. That’s because–outside of a bone stock interior and engine (3.8-liter V8 for the record)–it was almost completely rebuilt by renowned Long Island-based coachbuilder and artisan Niko Soko to have a more swooping profile reminiscent of Virgil Exner’s Chrysler designs of the late 50s. The rework also included moving the spare tire to the deck lid to accommodate storage of the hardtop, plating all the trim gold, and adding gorgeous 16″ BBS wheels. Oh yeah, and it has only 2,000 miles on the odometer. Wayne Newton’s 1981 Mercedes-Benz 380SL Custom Roadster will be auctioned off during Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas 2021 auction taking place June 17th – June 19th at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
