Omega has just issued its third version of its famous Speedmaster Snoopy watch, and this one is truly special since it commemorates the 50th anniversary of the NASA Snoopy Award given to Omega to honor its instrumental role in the Apollo 13 mission. The new version is called the Omega Speedmaster “Silver Snoopy Award” 50th Anniversary, and it’s a stunner with a blue bezel, white dial, three blue subdials, and blue and white hands. The 9 o’clock subdial is adorned with a silver medallion Snoopy that mimics the silver pin that NASA gives to award winners. Perhaps the most notable feature remains hidden when the watch is worn: the special caseback that animates the Command and Service Module (CSM), the Earth, and the Moon. Snoopy rides the CSM thanks to the rotation of the Earth disk that moves once per minute in unison with the small seconds hand. The movement is performed by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861 mechanical automatic. Perhaps the most important detail is the fact that this is the first Omega Speedy Snoopy that’s not a limited edition, so even you can get your hands on one.
