If you happen to be in the market for a bitchin’ track car, then this racing-spec BMW M1 Procar beckons. The Giorgetto Giugiaro designed supercar was BMW’s first foray into high-powered exotics in what turned out to be a failed partnership with Lamborghini. BMW went on to build the cars themselves, and the Procar was the racing version. While the street version of the M1 possessed a modest 273 horsepower from its mid-mounted 3.5-liter inline-six, the Procar churned out upwards of 470 horses and was lower, lighter, and stiffer. It raced in the short-lived Procar BMW M1 Championship racing series, which the legendary Niki Lauda won in 1979. The M1 Procar also went on to race in Group 4, as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans as a Group B car. This particular red, blue, and white over black version is in excellent condition with a new Sparco racing seat and harness ready for competition. It’s up for auction without reserve and will make one track hound very, very happy.
