Over a decade ago, on September 28th, 2008, Haile Gebrselassie shattered his own marathon world record and became the first person to break the 2:04hr barrier. When he broke that record, he was wearing a pair of the adidas adizero adios 1 sneakers, which is where the legend began. This time around, adidas hooked up with a dedicated team of world-class athletes to develop the adidas adizero adios Pro Sneakers, the fastest running shoe they’ve ever produced. Over thousands of kilometers, months of testing and dozens of prototypes, they finally came up with the design breakthrough that would set these shoes apart from all the others–EnergyRods. EnergyRods are five tuned, carbon-infused rods that mimic the metatarsal bones of the foot which allows any runner–champion or otherwise–to maintain their speed for longer with less physical impact on the body. The adidas adizero adios Pro Sneakers are expected to drop on June 30th on the adidas app with an as of yet unreleased price.
