In stereotypical Nike style, there isn’t a single sport that they can’t throw a shitload of money at advertising and football (we’re not talking pigskin here) is no different. Nike’s new Write The Future campaign for the World Cup may just outdo their previous attempts to make “soccer” as big in the States as it is overseas. Just because you might have no idea who Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, or Didier Drogba are doesn’t mean they aren’t as huge internationally as Roger Federer, Kobe Bryant, and Homer Simpson – all of whom make appearances in the Alejandro Iñarritu directed film.
Just do it, because some part of all of us dreams of being knighted, having statues made in our honor, and go-go dancers.
