Making something from practically nothing at all takes equal parts skill and imagination. The Resolute Tools X-1 utility knife pulls it off with both practicality and style. Designed and created by a bunch of aerospace engineers, the X-1 is built around basic utility blades you can find at the hardware store for a pittance. The X-1 uses high-end materials like Grade 5 titanium and aluminum-bronze alloy for contrast and eventual patina. The sliding plastic switch from typical utility knives has been replaced by a removable and resilient bronze slider that locks into a low friction channel for easy deployment. The minimalist skeletonized titanium frame also has a pocket clip built-in so you don’t lose the little guy. It’s up on Kickstarter right now, and the X-1 might just fill the gap for those who want an everyday carry blade that goes practically unnoticed until you break it out to use it.
