There are plenty of brands doing their part to help support the healthcare workers and professionals during the crisis. One of the largest issues right now is the lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) available in the field, so Nike set about repurposing some of their production to create full-face shields and powered, air-purifying respirator (PAPR) lenses to protect against the virus. They worked closely with health professionals at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) to create the masks with collar padding once destined for sneakers, cords originally earmarked for apparel and the TPU component of Nike Air soles. That same TPU component from the Nike Air soles is also being employed to create new lenses for PAPR helmets. Nike delivered their first shipment of donated full-face shields and PAPR lenses to OHSU last Friday, and they will continue producing them to further support the healthcare workers in the field.
