Audi AI:TRAIL quattro Concept Vehicle

Audi AI:TRAIL quattro Concept Vehicle

We were wholly unaware that Audi was developing something for Mars, but apparently they’ve done something up that looks like its space-rover ready. Unveiled at IAA 2019 the buggy-like electric off-roader concept rides high on 22-inch all-terrain tires but is actually intended for earthly adventures. The vehicle has four electric motors with 320-kilowatts of battery power , and the range aims for up to 310 miles on smooth pavement and 155 miles on dirt. Other than the suicide doors, huge side windows, hammock-style rear seats, and the floating fenders, the best part of the AI:TRAIL is the completely radical Audi Light Pathfinders headlights composed of five rotorless, triangular, electric drones with integrated matrix LED lighting elements. The drones can even land on the AI:TRAIL’s roof or automatically dock in their chargers. The idea behind them is to fly ahead of the vehicle to transmit video into the AI:TRAIL’s cabin about the upcoming terrain or simply illuminate the road. Autonomous Level 4 driving is also a feature that allows driverless capability in a pre-defined area, but we’d want to helm this bad boy ourselves all day long.
