The World’s Largest T-Rex Was Unearthed in Canada

With its incredible size, impressive musculature, and terrifying maw, the Tyrannosaurus Rex is a dinosaur that we’ve all known, loved and been genuinely terrified of since about the 3rd grade. Even with its tiny little hands it’s one of the most incredible predators of all time. As if the idea of resurrecting an “average size” T-Rex wasn’t terrifying enough, they just unearthed the world’s largest in Canada. Technically, RSP P2523.8–nicknamed “Scotty”–was originally discovered almost three decades ago in Saskatchewan, Canada, but it has taken more than two decades for the team of scientists to extract the bones and study them. The results are now in. Scotty weighed an estimated 19,500 pounds in life and is larger in almost every dimension when compared to other T-Rexs like Sue.
