Vans has been making iconic sneakers for more than half a century. Modernica has been making iconic furniture, particularly their fiberglass chair, for more than two decades. These two famous Southern California brands have a lot in common when it comes to their use of products as a canvas for artistic expression, so we’re not all that surprised that they decided to team up for a capsule collection. The fact that said collaboration resulted in a handful of different pairs of sneakers and chairs is something unlike what we’ve seen before. Three separate patterns–the checkerboard that is immediately associated with Vans, along with a Seed Pearl / Palm Leaf and a Leather Brown / Hawaiian–were used to create three pairs of Vans Slip-On LX sneakers, three pairs of Vans Style 36 LX sneakers and three separate Modernica fiberglass chairs (complete with Vans heel tab detailing on the bottom). Our dream of having a Modernica fiberglass chair in a checkerboard pattern that matches our slip-on Vans sneakers has finally been realized. The entire collection of sneakers and chairs will be available at select Vans Vault retailers beginning on February 23.
