Few watchmakers use carbon composite or full carbon fiber for their cases because it takes meticulous engineering to make it happen. The result is resilience, low weight, and visual uniqueness. Those who pull it off like Bell & Ross, Oris, and even Victorinox get accolades for the results. Now, luxury watchmaker Panerai has created the military-inspired Submersible Marina Militare Carbotech LE that’s made from Panerai’s proprietary carbon-composite. The big 47mm timepiece is powered by the in-house Panerai P.9010 automatic movement with a 72-hour power reserve. Complementary army-green coloring shows up on the bezel, hands, markers, and the dive-worthy strap. The 33-unit, limited-production watch is also accompanied by training sessions with Italy’s elite diving unit, the Comando Subaquei Ed Incursori, so you’ll have some toughness to balance out your apparent wealth. For roughly half the cost of the green version, you can opt for more traditional coloring and zero physical exertion.
