Shinola is a big part of Detroit’s revival, and they’ve just opened their own branded hotel in partnership with Bedrock Detroit. Going way beyond watches, bicycles, and leather goods, the establishment is simply called the Shinola Hotel. The brand new digs are located at 1400 Woodward, where a Singer Sewing store once stood. It captures the best of the Shinola brand style and classic Detroit architecture in 130 guest rooms and a sprawling event space. The associated restaurants include San Morello and the Italian works of Chef Andrew Carmellini, as well as Penny Red’s fried chicken. Retailers include Madewell, Drought, Le Labo, and Good Neighbor, all just a skip, hop, and a jump away. Step into one of the mid-century modern rooms, and you’re welcomed by tall arched windows, an array of Shinola products, and beautiful marble tubs and terraces, the latter of which offer views of ever-changing downtown Detroit.
