Comau is a manufacturing company founded in the late ’60s by a group of engineers who helped build the Volga Automobile Plant in Russia. Since then the company has expanded to laser robots, an aerospace division, collaborative robots, smart automation solutions and now, the wearable Mate Exoskeleton. Developed in collaboration with Icelandic orthopedic company ÖSSUR and IUVO, a spin-off of the Italian BioRobotics Institute, this exoskeleton replicates the dynamic human shoulder movements to reduce worker fatigue while increasing work quality and efficiency. The compact and comfortable exoskeleton is designed to be easily taken on and off. We know it’s designed for factory workers doing repetitive tasks, but it’s still one step closer to our lifelong dream of strapping ourselves into a Power Loader like Ripley in Aliens. The Mate Comau Exoskeleton is set for a December release. If you want one, you’ll have to reach out to the brand to purchase.
