The Segway went from revolutionary transportation device to something only used by mall cops and families taking a tour on vacation. Perhaps one reason for this odd trajectory has to do with the comical blandness of the vehicle. The future of transportation shouldn’t look like it was purchased at a Sharper Image circa 1990. The Z-Scooter is the Segways stylish successor—or at least Bel & Bel hopes it will be. The Z-Scooter is a self-balancing ride inspired by vintage motor scooters. It’s a modern idea in a very retro package. The Ninedroid app delivers a comprehensive dashboard, the ability to share records, online diagnosis, and service assistance for riders. The Z-Scooter even disassembles into two pieces for tossing it in the trunk when you’re off to explore. To light the way, you’ve got a Tesla Model S super lithium battery on the front. Available in seven different solid colors, the Z-Scooter can even be customized to give it some personal flair, which is far more than can be said about the original Segway.
