Latte art is the stuff Instagram dreams are made of. Why shouldn’t beer be allowed in on the fun? That’s the idea behind Beer Ripples, a new printer-like device that will craft a message in a beer’s frothy head. Designed for bars and restaurants—though passing a beer that says “Fuck You” to your buddy at your place sounds fun—Beer Ripples allows for creativity. Maybe you want to write your bar’s name in every beer. Maybe you want to advertise a drink special. Maybe you want to write “It’s from the guy at the end of the bar” on every drink to confuse patrons. We don’t know. We’re just spitballing here. The device uses a malt-based ink and a simple touchscreen interface. It’s not cheap ($3,000 plus an annual subscription), but, hey, do it for the ‘Gram.
