Running out of gas is a problem usually remedied by jogging to a gas station. For those with an electric vehicle, however, that jog can turn into an ultramarathon. Enter Volt, a concept from In Yeop Baek, a Korean product designer who’s tackled numerous modern issues through his work. Yes, this is a concept—but it’s a good one. Drivers download an app that they turn to when their car runs out of juice and they can’t get a charge. After a request is made, a Volt drone is sent to the location to assist. Upon arrival, the body of the drone opens to reveal a charging gun that extends to give fresh life to the battery. While Volt doesn’t currently exist, it would offer peace of mind to EV owners often traveling through desolate areas.
