Now that Mercedes-Benz has fully taken the wraps off the 2019 G-Class, it’s time to talk about its meaner, faster and technology more advanced big brother—the 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63. Seeing as how AMG played a large role in completely redeveloping the 2019 G-Wagen as a whole, the list of upgrades isn’t as long as you might imagine, but they’re all significant. The AMG G63 G-Wagen is packing the same biturbo V8 you saw a month ago, but output has been kicked up to 577 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque for a 0-60 time in just under four and a half seconds. Throw in the optional AMG Driver’s Package and you can also upgrade top speed from 137 mph to 149 mph, even though there are probably few places you’ll be driving this boxy behemoth that warrant such a breakneck speed. It also has the trio of locking diffs, a 4matic AWD system, and an improved AMG suspension. AMG didn’t skimp on the cosmetics either with flared fenders, steering wheel, radiator grill, bumper and a Night Package for tinting. The AMG G63 is set for release later this year, but prices have yet to be released.
