The Mutiny Hotel is a luxurious property near Coral Gables that was essentially the epicenter of the coke “hurricane” in Miami four decades ago. Hotel Scarface: Where Cocaine Cowboys Partied and Plotted to Control Miami tells the wild and true story of the Hollywood royalty, rock stars and models that flocked to the club and would ultimately become the inspiration for the blockbuster film we all know and love–Scarface. The book was written by Roben Farzad who’s the host of Full Disclosure on NPR One, special correspondent on PBS NewsHour and was previously a senior writer for Bloomberg Businessweek. The 350+ page tome weighs over a pound and is based on exclusive interviews and never-before-seen documents that paints a portrait of the Mutiny hotel and the city of Miami during the rise and fall of cocaine. Hotel Scarface: Where Cocaine Cowboys Partied and Plotted to Control Miami will be released on October 17th.
