You can’t spend any amount of time on the Internet without running into at least one piece of information that pokes fun at Millennials for everything ranging from them just being the worst to being ridiculously entitled. Rather than piling on, author Erin Lowry decided to tackle generational finances with Broke Millennial: Stop Scraping By and Get Your Financial Life Together. Frankly, it’s about time somebody did. Leaving college with student loan debt and entering the work force leads to all kinds of financial questions and situations you’re probably not prepared for (Millennial or not), and Lowry tackles it with a step-by-step plan that will teach you “how to go from flat-broke to financial badass.” Most importantly, with chapters like “I’ve Got Debt, So Why Should I Care About Saving?” and “But My Broker Said I Can Afford This Much House,” Broke Millennial breaks it down in a way that’s funny and relatable without making you feel like someone is yelling at you for not already maxing out an IRA every year. The book has gotten rave reviews from Time and the Washington Post, so it’s definitely worth reading if you want a more youthful perspective on finance.
