When it comes to coffee table books that are as informational as they are begging to be displayed, there are few print and publishing houses that do it better than Phaidon. Their upcoming release Universe: Exploring the Astronomical World is a 350+ page hardcover tome from Phaidon Editors and contributors David Malin and Paul Murdin. Universe is an exploration and celebration of astronomy as told through 300 high resolution images create by “those who have tried to understand—or who have been inspired by—the beauty and mystery of stars, planets, and beyond.” The images include everything from paintings and photographs to sketches and digital renderings that were chosen by an international panel of experts. Each of the works of art is paired with the kind of information you’d expect to find in an art history textbook, but you’ll actually appreciate it since you’re not being forced to read it. It’s artistic wanderlust you can explore at your leisure from the comfort of your home. Universe: Exploring the Astronomical World will be released October 9, 2017.
