Mexican designer Edgar Herrera recently picked up a Red Dot Design Concept Award for this Bladeless Drone Concept. Designed with bladeless technology similar to what you’d find in those funky yet effective Dyson fans, this drone concept uses four bladeless propellers to tackle three of the most common problems with today’s drones—wind, exposed blades, and noise. The main propeller situated in the middle of the drone uses ducted flow from the internal vents to handle take-off and landing duty. In order to control the direction of the drone, the front two propellers rotate 20 degrees forward or backward and the rear propeller rotates 20 degrees clockwise or counter clockwise. That same bladeless technology also means you won’t have to worry about getting hit with a rotating blade or that annoying hum that some drones make. As this is only a concept, there’s no word on whether or not it will ever hit the functional prototype phase or full production, but this is one drone that we’d happily fly or put on display.
