Nike ‘Kenny Moore’ Heritage Cortez Sneakers

More than half a century ago, University of Oregon runner Kenny Moore suffered an injury that put him on the sideline for weeks because of what his track coach, Bill Bowerman, described as a “double-shit shoe.” Bowerman—you know him better as the co-founder of Nike—made it his mission to build his prized athlete a shoe that wouldn’t let him down on the track. That shoe would ultimately evolve into the Nike Cortez, one of the most legendary sneakers on the planet. In honor of the 45th anniversary of the iconic style, Nike is releasing a Kenny Moore Collection of the Cortez that pays homage to the man that helped build and test the shoe. The collection features a retro golden / teal option in nylon and suede, a light blue suede option and, our favorite, a white leather option with Moore written on the side the same way Bowerman did on the original prototype. The Nike Kenny Moore Collection is set to drop on August 25 through the SNKRS app and select retailers.
