Dreamed up by two Ventura Watch Company alums (founder Pierre Nobs and award-winning designer Simon Husslein), the Bólido Watch is a timepiece of Swiss integrity, build quality and performance without the price tag normally associated with Swiss Made. The uniquely asymmetrical design that was a bit of a Venture hallmark back in the day sees the upper edge of the case at 12 o’clock jutting away from your wrist more than at 6 o’clock near the bottom, which allows for the larger crown, makes it easier to read while driving and just plain looks cool. The clean and minimal design is absolutely intentional but is due, in part, to the construction. The surgical grade stainless case is machine lathed from a single block of steel before becoming the monocoque for the Swiss mechanical automatic movement, the natural rubber strap and the sapphire crystal. It’s nice to have a Swiss made alternative to the expensive watches that typically come out of that area that’s as clean, beautiful and well-built as the competitors for a fraction of the price.
