If your aerial photography is feeling a little lackluster these days, DJI and Hasselblad just released a 100MP drone platform. The second collaboration between the two since DJI acquired a majority stake in the iconic camera in January is described as the “world’s first 100-Megapixel Integrated Aerial Photography Platform” and was designed “to provide rich imagery for landscape and fine-art photography” along with “robust data for surveying and mapmaking.” This new package combines SJI’s M600 Pro drone with a Hasselblad H6D-100c medium format camera mounted to a Ronin MX gimbal. With a 53.4mm x 40.0mm sensor this drone is going to be capable of taking some amazing pictures even in poor lighting conditions, but all that performance comes at a price. The M600 Pro drone costs around five grand. The Ronin MX gimbal retails for around $1,600. And that ridiculous Hasselblad camera? $30,000 without a lens. Pricing for the entire aerial platform hasn’t been revealed yet, but expect it to cost over $40,000 with a lens. The new platform takes to the skies in the third quarter of this year.
