Notorious Italian manufacturer Piaggio—among other things, they’re responsible for making Vespa scooters and Moto Guzzi motorcycles—has recently launched Gita as part of a new brand-within-a-brand. The new Gita robot might look like a combination of a giant exercise ball and a BattleBot, but the intelligent and nimble robot is actually designed to carry all of your stuff behind you or deliver your packages to you. The “intelligent cargo vehicle” has the same attention to safety, braking, balancing and vehicle dynamics that you’d expect from one of the parent brand’s high-performance motorcycles except this is designed to carry up to 40lbs of laptops, phones, chargers, shoes and other daily essentials at a maximum speed of up to 22mph. Details are still scarce because the project isn’t officially launched yet, but we expect to see Gita popping up all over the US in the near future. Turns out backpacks might actually be a thing of the past.
