Sense is a new electricity consumption tracking system that, unlike most of the other options on the market, tracks your usage right at the panel. You need a qualified electrician to install it, but once that’s done you’ll be able to find out all kinds of useful information about where all the money you pay the electric company actually goes. How many hours a week is the TV on? What time was the iron turned on? Is your laundry finished? Did you leave the garage door open? Sense uses the existing sensors in your breakers and special algorithms to isolate and identify the unique electronic signature of every electrical device in your home. You won’t actually be able to turn anything on or off remotely, but the app gives you access to all kinds of useful information about your electricity consumption.
