The BMW 2002. Originally introduced in 1973, the 2002 was a significant advance for both BMW and automobiles in general. Why you ask? Well, it was the first turbocharged vehicle for BMW and the first production turbocharged vehicle after GM’s futile attempts in the earlier part of the ’60s. But a concept for a car that is over 40 years old? Yep, and this wouldn’t be the first time BMW has done a 180 on the concept vehicle (see here and here). Beginning with the highly regarded M2 platform, BMW incorporated various design elements to invoke the aggressive styling of the original 2002 including the yellowed out headlamps along with racing livery. But like other examples from BMW, this will likely never see a showroom floor. Sigh.
