Rare 1959 BMW 507 Roadster Up for Auction

Rare 1959 BMW 507 Roadster Up for Auction

Originally designed to fill the underserved void between inexpensive MGs and Triumphs and the expensive Mercedes 300 SL, the BMW 507 was made from 1956 through 1959. However, due to higher than expected costs, the project was shelved with a scant 251 models actually made. Rarer still are the Series II 507s, with total production of only 217 models. Luckily, one of these Series II 507s will be hitting the auction floor next month at the Design by Disruption at RM Sotheby’s in New York City. Finished in black with red interior and complete with the graceful yet aggressive lines that would later inspire the BMW Z8, this particular 507 is expected to fetch north of $2 million.
