We’ve always been of the opinion that you could make friends over a bowl of ramen, but the experience was definitely not as profound as the one Gustavo “Goose” Alvarez had while he was an inmate at Chino. During the race riots, Alvarez and his crew fed ramen to their enemies, which turned them into brothers. Alvarez hooked up with his actor friend Clifton Collins Jr. and Prison Ramen: Recipes and Stories from Behind Bars was in the works. The unique and edgy cookbook paints instant ramen as the building block for all sorts of crazy meals ranging from Shia LaBeouf’s Egg Ramen Salad Sandwich to Danny Trejo’s Machete Ramen. The book even includes a foreword by Samuel L. Jackson.
