Stallhagen 1843 Is a Recreation of a Beer from the 1800s

Back in the summer of 2010, five bottles of preserved beer were found upon a sunken ship in the Åland archipelago. The bottles dated back to the early 1800s and offered a glimpse into what beer was like long before American craft brewers were playing around with experimental hops. Now, after years of research, Stallhagen Brewery has developed a beer based on the ones found in the shipwreck so your taste buds can take a trip back in time. Stallhagen 1843 and the special collectors edition “Stallhagen 1842” were brewed after studying the alcohol content, color, and bitterness of the beer, along with the yeast used for fermentation. What you’ll find if you get your hands on a bottle, is a beer much sweeter than modern brews with much more of a story behind it.
