There’s no shortage of music getting released every Tuesday, but it’s no secret that most of it is auto-tuned, over-produced, collaborative trash. We want gritty, no bullshit, no nonsense rock that we can put on a flannel, take off our pants and rock out to. Which is precisely why we’re all such huge fans of The Black Keys. Their newest album El Camino is raw, gritty and leaves us feeling a little dirty, but it’s also upbeat, catchy and impossible to turn off. Just to put things in perspective, we got a free “advance” copy of the album and we pre-ordered a copy anyways. Until the writing of these words it’s hard to recall the last time we enjoyed paying for music, but this is definitely one of them. If their next album is anywhere near as good as this one they’ll actually be inducted into the Hall of Fame before their deaths.
