It’s about time Zodiac brought back the Sea-Chron, a chrono follow-up to its much-lauded Sea Wolf. Birthed in the ’60s, the Sea-Chron has recently resurfaced in modern form, and it’s a stunner. Changes to the original design include a different bezel, crystal, and, most importantly, movement. The case measures 42mm in diameter (up from the original’s 39mm width) with a 20mm lug width and a 16.5mm height. It’s a chunky watch with presence. The dial is more complex the second time around with a multi-level dial with a sunray finish, lumed sandwich markers, and recessed subdials. The bezel insert is no longer aluminum but polished ceramic. Timekeeping duties come from an automatic Sellita SW510 b with a 30-minute register at 3, a 12-hour register at 6, and running seconds at the 9 o’clock position. If you can manage the increased size, it’s one of the best-looking chronographs to emerge in a while.
