If you want a timepiece that’s a true tool watch for not much coin, the new Command Encounter from Timex is a superb new entrant for the brand. This one embodies the company’s old slogan “takes a licking and keeps on ticking” thanks to its tough octagonal 45mm resin case, hybrid quartz analog/digital movement, shock resistance, 100-meter depth rating, and a matching resin strap. The watch gets bold hands and markers with lume for great nighttime visibility, and the digital screen provides world time for 31 cities around the world. There’s also a chrono function, 24-hour timer, and an alarm. The Command Encounter comes in three military-esque colors, and it’s priced so you can get all three.
