In what’s easily the most interesting coverage of Depression-era outlaws Bonnie Elizabeth Parker and Clyde Chestnut Barrow (aka, Bonnie & Clyde), The Highwaymen tells the story from the angle of the Texas lawmen who hunted them down, Frank Hamer and Maney Gault, retired Texas Rangers called back into service to capture or kill the murderous duo. John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) directed Kevin Costner as Hamer and Woody Harrelson as Gault in their crotchety finest. The trailer is both hilarious with the crabby exchanges between Costner and Harrelson, as well as gritty, showing Bonnie executing a police officer in the middle of the road. The 1967 movie Bonnie and Clyde with Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway as the leads surely paved the way for this movie that will likely ramp up the storytelling and violence surrounding the drama of the actual events. Also, look for the inimitable Kathy Bates as Texas governor Ma Ferguson. The Highwaymen opens in limited engagements on March 15th and hits Netflix March 29th.
