At the height of WW I, two British soldiers are given an impossible task–cross enemy territory and deliver a message to prevent a massacre of more than a thousand soldiers, including one of their own brothers. That’s the basic gist of the upcoming film 1917, director Sam Mendes’ World War I epic that’s been in production for more than a year. With previous directorial credits ranging from Skyfall to American Beauty, and a plot like that one, we have no doubt this film is going to be one that’s talked about for quite some time. The preview that was just released further seals the deal. As if that wasn’t enough, the cast list also includes a who’s who of other across the pond stars like Benedict Cumberbatch, Andrew Scott, Richard Madden, Mark Strong and Colin Firth. 1917 is set to be released in theaters this December.
