The most popular thing in the world of video game consoles over the past few years hasn’t been the release of high-powered, next-gen consoles, it’s been the old school, retro, mini machines that come with games built-in. Nintendo, Sony and Sega have all released micro versions of some of their most beloved consoles, but that’s never been more true than it is with the upcoming Sega Astro Citi Mini Retro Arcade. This pint-sized version of the Japanese cabinet you’ll still find in arcades to this day comes with a total of 36 games, proper switches, HDMI-out, USB ports and a headphone jack. We don’t know all of the games that will be included, but these confirmed titles have us very excited: Alien Syndrome, Alien Storm, Golden Axe, Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder, Columns II, Dark Edge, Puzzle & Action: Tant-R, Virtua Fighter, Fantasy Zone, Altered Beast. We’d probably buy one just for Golden Axe and Altered Beast, so everything else is a bonus. The Sega Astro City Mini is available for pre-order now through Amazon Japan with an expected release date at the end of this year.
