There are still some gunshy folks who refuse to buy shoes online. Who can blame them? It’s not like shoe sizing is an exact science. Now, Nike aims to reduce the gambling factor by introducing the Nike Fit smartphone app system that uses computer vision, data science, machine learning, and brilliant AI to figure out what your right Nike shoe size is. The app works easily, simply requiring you to take a photo of your feet in socks while standing against a wall. The guide grid on the app screen takes the pain out of it and provides proper horizontal leveling in order to take the image of your dogs. The app then analyzes 13 data points via an algorithm, and it adjusts depending on the shoe you choose. Even better, it will memorize your scan so you can use it whenever you shop, versus rescanning each time. The app will show up in Nike retail stores by staff so you can say goodbye to those antiquated sliding Brannock devices that surely never get sanitized. Blech.
