The third coming of Apple’s super-successful AirPods may just be its mightiest. Not only do they look different, they really are different with enhanced sound quality, bona fide noise cancellation, and hands-free Siri access. The Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) feature is its biggest upgrade: the built-in microphones pick up external sound, and the headphones respond by canceling them out while delivering superior sound quality. Transparency mode capitalizes on the AirPods Pro’s outward- and inward-facing microphones help bypass the isolation of the new silicone tips and allow natural conversational hearing capability. Those silicone earbuds are new for Apple, and they fit your ear canal as well as hold the AirPods Pro in place better than previous versions. The Adaptive EQ actually works by adjusting sound to the shape of your ear canal, so it’s like getting customized headphones. Now the $249 asking price doesn’t seem all that nuts, does it? The AirPods Pro go on sale October 30th.
