Since 1989 John Derian has excelled at creating a bygone world of artisanal homewares. For me, his East Village shop is a perennial stop on my trips to the city. Because of this, I’m forever grateful to the fashion gods for putting Derian on Todd Snyder’s radar.
Their collaboration has the romantic subtlety of Derian’s work while still maintaining the integrity of the American gent style that pervades Snyder’s design philosophy. From botanical prints on crewnecks to camp collared shirts dotted in paint chip samples, it’s a playful anachronism that’s simultaneously timeless. This collaboration is a capsule collection worth investing in. Most of the pieces are currently sold out but the Camp Collar Shirt is available in several prints for $198.
