Makara Sea Serpent

The watch market is strewn with derivative models, many of them pulling from icons like the Rolex Submariner, Omega Seamaster, and the Panerai PAM 002. But you have to search high and low for an affordable timepiece that’s uniquely styled, built with superb quality, and powered by a reliable mechanical automatic movement. Makara Watches is now on their third model with the rugged and stylish Sea Serpent. The Sea Serpent carries on with the brand’s angular cases, bold raised markers, high-contrast hands, logo’d screw down crown, and a brilliantly original “brass knuckle” strap buckle. The Sea Serpent is powered by a Miyota 82S0 movement with 42-hour power reserve and also gets a double domed sapphire crystal for scratch and impact resistance, a display caseback, and comes in stainless steel, black PVD over stainless steel, and CUSN8 Bronze. It’s also dive-ready with a 300M depth rating and a black silicone strap. The Kickstarter campaign to fund it is still going on, and you can get a superb deal before it goes into production.
