While the name might not sound particularly mellifluous, the RML Short Wheelbase is inspired by the iconic 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Short Wheelbase. The homage car is brought to life by using a Ferrari 550 Maranello’s chassis (and awesome V12 engine) and encasing it in a custom carbon fiber body. RML then tweaks the handling characteristics for the modern age and then gives it a bespoke cabin. 485 horses under the front-munted 5.5-liter V12 emit a classic V12 burble and growl to harken the past, and it’s properly mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The luscious bodywork gets a multi-layered metallic blue coat over a silver base and carbon primer. RML states it will launch to 62 miles per hour in four seconds and top out a 185 mph. Cost? A cool $2.5 million. Before you balk at that, keep in mind that the real deal costs upwards of $7.6 million and that’s if you can find one.
