The Bentley Bentayga Speed is a bit of an answer to a question no one asked. The “regular” Bentayga is already a bespoke rocket sled that hurtles its mass at alarming speeds via a twin-turbo W12 (yes, that’s two mated V6s). But Bentley wasn’t happy losing the “world’s fastest SUV” moniker from the new Lamborghini Urus. So, the Bentayga Speed was born, and it’s the equivalent of strapping a jet engine to a bank vault and slapping some wheels on it. Lambo’s official top speed for the Urus is 305 kmh (189.5 mph), while the Bentayga Speed nets 306 kmh (190 mph), nabbing the title back for the Crewe, UK luxury automaker. The Speed ups the power from 600 to 626 via engine and transmission tweak, as well as a recalibrated Sport mode to squeeze out the aggresssion. Adaptive suspension changes have also been made to manage the power and to make the driving dynamics more engaging for the deep-pocketed owner. And because you don’t want to be mistaken for the plebeian, run-of-the-mill Bentayga owner, the Speed gets visual upgrades like a blackened grille, a big tailgate spoiler, and huge 22-inch wheels that probably cost as much as your Honda Accord.
