Outside of the Vision-S concept car, no one thought Sony was actually going to build an EV for production. Except for Sony, apparently. The new Vision-S 02 crossover EV was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show, and it looks ready for prime time. The Vision-S 02 is a midsize crossover with room for seven. While the slippery exterior doesn’t deviate much from modern crossovers, the interior shows off an airy layout with three huge unified touchscreens in panoramic layout in front, two backseat screens, and one control screen in the center stack. There will be surround sound audio, remote PlayStation video gameplay, 5G and cloud connectivity, and OTA updates. In terms of power, it has two electric motors that power the front and rear wheels for a total of 400kW of power. It hasn’t been confirmed for production, but the formation of a Sony Mobility division might point to something concrete in the near future.
